He has a particular interest in orthopaedic cases and claims relating to birth induced brain injuries and has successfully represented Claimants in a number of multi-million pound birth injury cases.
Richard has considerable experience in high value settlements in which secured annual payments have been arranged in order to provide for ongoing care requirements. Awards of compensation in this form, known as periodical payments, provide much needed reassurance to clients and their families, that there will be funds available throughout the life of the injured person, to pay for vital care support. Richard was one of the first Solicitors in the North East of England to obtain such an award for an injured client.
Because of his reputation and expertise in clinical negligence law, Richard regularly receives recommendations from clients and cases referred on from other Solicitors. Like everyone at Longden, Walker & Renney he appreciates that it is often difficult for clients to talk about problems involving their medical treatment and he is always a caring and sympathetic listener before going on to ensure that the best possible result is achieved for the client. He is a member of the Law Society's Specialist Panel of Clinical Negligence Solicitors and has been a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) since the organisation started in 1990.
