David Nesbitt LLB (Hons)

David qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and commenced working for a firm of Solicitors in Newcastle- Upon- Tyne, becoming a partner in 1987.  He gained a wide range of experience in both non-contentious and contentious law, representing clients in various courts of law. He joined Longden Walker & Renney in 1989 to specialise in civil litigation work, in particular personal injury law. He became a partner in 1991 and has been instrumental in building the litigation department within the firm, that now specialises in clinical negligence and personal injury work and which has greatly expanded over the last 20 years. During this time David put in place the necessary quality mark policies and procedures to enable the firm to succeed in their applications for Specialist Franchises to act for clients in Public funded (legal aid) Clinical negligence and personal injury cases.

David is Head of the Personal Injury Department and has extensive experience in a wide range of complex and high value personal injury cases including Accidents at work, Asbestos related Industrial disease and road traffic accidents. He has been a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) since the organisation started in 1990. David became Managing Partner within the firm in 2009, managing Director when the firm became a limited company in 2012 and has overall responsibility for business development, planning, financial management, marketing, quality and risk management within the firm.  He is also the Training Director in the firm, responsible for the development and supervision of trainee solicitors within the firm’s training programme. Currently he divides his time between carrying out his duties in his role as Managing Director, supervising fee earners within the personal injury department and involvement within the Clinical Negligence department, particularly in the more complex, high value type cases.
