Nicole secures Training Contract in final step of nine-year push to become a solicitor
LONGDEN, Walker & Renney is thrilled to announce that Nicole Barrs has been awarded a Training Contract, marking the next step in her inspiring journey to becoming a fully-qualified solicitor.
Nicole, who specialises in probate work, will spend the next two years completing her training across our Probate, Clinical Negligence and Civil Litigation departments. Upon completion, she will have spent nine years studying and working towards her ultimate career ambition – having successfully completed her Law Degree through part-time study with the Open University whilst working in a bank.
Speaking about her achievement, Nicole said: “I’m thrilled to have been given such a fantastic opportunity. When I first began this journey in 2016, I underestimated the level of study and dedication that would be required but I’m glad I took on the challenge.
“Studying has developed my knowledge and resilience, whilst setting an example to my children to show them that it is possible to achieve your goals and ambitions with hard work and perseverance.
“I embarked on this career path to build a better future for my family, and that will continue to be my motivation as I take the next exciting step of my career.”
Nicole has developed a strong passion for probate law, where she works closely with clients during some of the most difficult periods of their lives. She enjoys building trust and supporting them throughout the process, finding it incredibly rewarding to know that their final wishes are being respected and carried out with care.
Joint Managing Director Laura Robinson, Head of Wills, Trusts and Probate, said: “Nicole has been a welcome addition to my department and it is testament to her hard work and commitment that she has been offered a Training Contract. We are all excited to see Nicole take this next step in her career and are confident that she will continue to make a significant contribution to the Department and us as a business.”
Nicole’s achievement marks the first Training Contract we have awarded since 2020 and forms part of a renewed strategy to invest in developing our junior staff into the next generation of solicitors.
Joint Managing Director Alixandra Cadden-Young has recently taken over as our Training Principal and she is determined to strengthen our commitment to grow from within.
Alix said: “I am delighted that Nicole has commenced her Training Contract, and it’s very well deserved after the dedication she has shown to quickly build up her own portfolio of clients.
“While Nicole is our first Trainee Solicitor for a few years, she will not be the last. We are committed to offering opportunities for our talented junior staff, and we are determined to reward their loyalty, so that they can shape our future as a firm.”
