Why do I need a remortgage solicitor?
If you’re going to re-mortgage with the same lender, you may NOT need a solicitor or conveyancer to:
- Receive an advance or borrow additional money on existing mortgage
- Secure a product transfer – move to a new deal or lending rate
If you are re-mortgaging with a different lender, you WILL need a solicitor or conveyancer to handle the legal formalities.
This is because your current mortgage will be paid off in full and replaced with a completely new mortgage, terms and conditions.

How long will a remortgage take?
On average, it takes between four to eight weeks to complete a re-mortgage on a UK property.
