Ben’s rapid development and potential is rewarded with a Training Contract

LONGDEN, Walker & Renney is delighted to have awarded a Training Contract to Ben Crudace, a key milestone in his bid to become a fully-qualified solicitor.

Since joining us as a Paralegal in February 2024, Ben has always been enthusiastic and committed to learning. Despite having no prior legal experience after graduating from university with an MLaw degree, he quickly demonstrated a strong aptitude for litigation work and an eagerness to develop his skills.

After only five months, Ben’s dedication and progress were recognised with a promotion to Litigation Assistant, where he began overseeing his own caseload of pre-litigation files in our Clinical Negligence department.

Ben has now been rewarded for his outstanding commitment, rapid development and consistently high standards with a Training Contract to continue advancing his legal expertise and take the final steps toward qualification.

Commenting on his achievement, Joint Managing Director Alixandra Cadden-Young, Head of Clinical Negligence, said: “Having performed to a high standard since joining us, we are delighted to have rewarded Ben with a training contract. His sparkling personality and approachable nature mean that clients immediately feel at ease with him.

“As a much-valued and much-liked member of our team, Ben always brings positivity, professionalism and a genuine care for his work – and we know he will be a massive success in his new role.”

Ben will now spend the next two years completing his training with spells in our Probate, Civil Litigation and Clinical Negligence department, which is where he sees his long-term career aspirations.

“I’m delighted to have been given this opportunity, and I’m determined to repay the confidence and faith shown in me by putting my strong work ethic into practice,” said Ben.

“I already feel incredibly fortunate to have gained so much hands-on experience, and the support I’ve received from Hannah Entwistle, Alixandra Cadden-Young and Monica Kershaw has been invaluable. Their patience, insight and in-depth guidance have made a massive difference.

“I definitely see myself as a Clinical Negligence specialist in the long term, but I know this training will help to make me a more well-rounded solicitor.”

As part of our commitment to investing in and developing the next generation of solicitors, Ben’s promotion is the second Training Contract we have awarded this year as he follows in the footsteps of Nicole Barrs.

Beth Marron has also recently taken the next step in her legal career by beginning the Legal Practice Course (LPC), further demonstrating our dedication to supporting the career progression of our talented junior staff.
