Paralegal – Wills, Trusts, Probate & Estates

Janine is one of the warm and friendly faces from our Wills, Trust & Probate Department and her welcoming manner is always appreciated by clients as they deal with what are often very sensitive matters.

Having joined as an Office Trainee in 2004, Janine has grown in confidence and after learning many different aspects in her previous role as a Legal Clerk has progressed to become a Paralegal. Her main duties include Drafting of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Estate Administrations and Probate Applications.

At the end of 2022, she completed her Level 6 Certificate in Law to achieve Specialist Paralegal status in the area of Wills, Probate and Administration, the highest level of subject-specific graduate level training available in the UK.

Whether it is on the phone or face-to-face, Janine enjoys talking to people and putting them at ease during what can often be a very emotional time. She always adopts a personal and non-judgemental approach to make clients feel comfortable and reassured that they are in safe hands.

Away from work

Janine lives in Sunderland with her husband, Tony, and travelling is one of their favourite interests. They never like to visit the same location more than once and she would list Thailand as her most memorable destination to date. She also loves the island of Tenerife and would definitely recommend going to Belfast for a city break.

An avid football fan who loves to watch and attend matches, Janine is a lifelong supporter of Sunderland AFC and has been a season ticket holder with her Nephew since 2016. She also enjoys watching her nephews play. When she is not spending time with her family, she can be found socialising with her friends and planning their next trip away.

Organised, trustworthy, reliable, loyal and friendly.

Although I do like to cook, I enjoy going out for food with a good steakhouse being my favourite type of restaurant as I like a good fillet steak.  Also, my go-to favourite takeaway has to be a Chinese.

Do you have a favourite movie or TV series you would recommend?

I like watching comedies and chick flick movies – anything that’s funny. In terms of TV, the three comedy series that spring to mind are Derry Girls, Young Offenders and Brassic but there are loads more that I like too.

Is there a smartphone App you could not live without?

Whatsapp and Instagram – for keeping in touch with family and friends and seeing what people are up to.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?

Don’t have any regrets. One of my favourite sayings is ‘Never regret something that once made you smile.’
