Richard Ebdon LLB (Hons)

Director

Richard qualified as a Solicitor in 1976 and joined Longden Walker & Renney in 1976, becoming a Partner in 1981. He has been representing clients in personal injury and clinical negligence claims throughout his legal career. Since the year 2000, his work has been almost exclusively in the field of clinical negligence. He is a member of the Law Society's Specialist Panel of Clinical Negligence Solicitors and has been a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) since the organisation started in 1990. Richard has considerable experience in high value settlements in which secured annual payments have been arranged in order to provide for ongoing care requirements. Awards of compensation in this form, known as periodical payments, provide much needed reassurance to clients and their families, that there will be funds available throughout the life of the injured person, to pay for vital care support.

Richard was one of the first Solicitors in the North East of England to obtain such an award for an injured client.

During Richard's many years of experience he has dealt with a wide range of medical cases including:

  • Cerebral palsy
  • Knee replacement
  • Knee arthroscopic procedures
  • Ankle and foot surgery

  • Orthopaedic trauma surgery

He has particular interest in orthopaedic, general and vascular surgery cases and claims relating to birth induced and other brain injuries where he has successfully represented Claimants in a number of multi-million pound birth injury cases. He has also been involved in many cases relating to accident and emergency treatment and the investigation of complaints about the quality of GP care.

Because of his reputation and expertise in clinical negligence law, Richard regularly receives recommendations from clients and cases referred on from other Solicitors. Like everyone at Longden, Walker & Renney he appreciates that it is often difficult for clients to talk about problems involving their medical treatment and he is always a caring and sympathetic listener before going on to ensure that the best possible result is achieved for the client.
